We have been present in the Polish and Eastern European markets since 1991 and in 1997 we re-structured to form the new organisation Academia Polonica, Polish language school run by dr. Ewa Masłowska.

Expats - Live easier in Poland

assistance in overcoming cross-cultural & work issues

Being new in Poland, do you:

  • want to avoid feeling foolish?
  • wish to work together in partnership with Poles?
  • want your business to be more successful than your competitors?

When in Poland do as the Poles do

For business people, the challenge is to manage diversity and change at the same time. The success of the outcome depends on how well the managers of different nationalities and backgrounds work together through partnership, across cultural borders. It involves an understanding of why people behave in a particular way, and may be different from what you expect.

Academia Polonica experts will be pleased to introduce your staff to the Polish lifestyle by organising cross cultural sessions.

The sessions will cover such problems as:

  • body language (e.g.: what does it mean if you put your hands in your pockets when talking to an individual or to the public?)
  • customs and habits (e.g.: what giving flowers means? When dining in a Polish home should you bring something or not?, etc.)
  • behaviour (to kiss a hand or a cheek - what is the difference?)
  • Courtesies - what is expected, what is offensive?
  • national stereotypes - can understanding be reinforced by behaviour which ignores local values and customs? Being ignorant can lead to behaviour which inadvertently reinforces the national stereotypes of the British, Americans, Germans, Poles, etc. It can destroy good working relationships.
