Level (please evaluate your level)

  1. Absolute beginner
  2. You know a few words and expressions but you can't hold even a very simple conversation.
  3. You know many words, you can understand if somebody speaks very slowly, but you can't hold a conversation. You can ask simple questions, you can read and understand simple information.
  4. You can hold a conversation, you have the knowledge of basic grammar, you can understand much more than you can speak. You still don't feel confident in the language. You can't follow the conversation if there is more then one person speaking at the same time.
  5. You have an extensive vocabulary, you have a practical knowledge of Polish grammar, but you still make mistakes and tend to translate. You can't think in Polish yet, although you can communicate without difficulty.
  6. Although your vocabulary is quite reasonable, you can express yourself without problems, and read general texts, you can't say you are fluent in Polish. You still have a foreign accent and you have to express yourself in a simple way.
  7. You can express yourself very well, you can read all kinds of texts, your Polish is generally correct, and you can follow TV programmes. You can write not too sophisticated texts but you still don't feel confident in writing; you can watch Polish films, but you can't follow all the dialogue, you understand about 75%.
  8. You are almost fluent but you still happen to use incorrect forms or constructions. You would like to be able to use more idiomatic expressions, to understand cultural, historical . and social connotations and feel confident in writing.
